Titanium zinc is very favourable among architects with its 100% recyclability & low energy consumption making it one of the highest sustainable metals. Milled in Europe the metal is extremely malleable making it possible to create the most complex designs, shapes & curvature possible. Zinc is 99% pure with a touch of titanium, copper and aluminium to give it strength. It is extremely durable and rust resistant with age. Its not uncommon for zinc and roofing facades to last up to a century.

Zinc forms a protective external barrier on its surface upon contact with natural elements from the atmosphere. This patina process usually forms from water and oxygen in the atmosphere, the patina continuously renews itself over time make zinc a very low maintenance building material and perfect for any interior application.

Over the years VMZinc has developed oxidisation processes to enable a coloured patina on the metal called Pigmento. This process gives zinc the leading edge to be competitive in colour with the other elite metals.

Copper

Description

Copper is a 100% renewable & sustainable metal used for centuries on heritage roofing & cladding. Its durability to withstand the harshest environments makes it the pinnacle of metals. Copper comes in a range thickness and is used on all roofing and wall cladding profiles.  Its ability to be corrosion free and 100% maintenance free makes it a desirable choice on a quality build.

Surface“Patina”

The natural development of a copper patina is the most unique & exquisite characteristics that set it apart from any other metal. With in a few days of the earths atmosphere the copper surface has the ability to transform colour in an uncontrollable formation and will continue to do so for its entire lifespan. Starting off its early life as a burnt earth brown to transforming over decades into a light green textured patina.

With the technology of oxidisation, the mills are able to create a pre patina surface on the copper coil to give the client the full effect of a century old patina from day one.

Manufactured in Australia to Australian Standards (AS1397 and AS/NZS 2728) and tested in some of the harshest Australian conditions over the last 50 years, genuine COLORBOND® steel is far more than just ‘paint on steel’.

  • The steel base is manufactured to meet relevant Australian Standards, ensuring strict adherence to the required grade and strength.

  • The base is then coated in BlueScope’s industry leading metallic coating incorporating Activate® technology*, to provide enhanced corrosion resistance.

  • A thin pretreatment layer is applied to optimise the adhesion of further coatings.

  • A corrosion inhibitive primer is baked onto the surface.

  • A topcoat of specially developed, exterior grade paint is baked on to provide resistance to chipping, flaking and blistering and to ensure the finish retains its look for longer.

*Activate® technology is not available for COLORBOND® Stainless steel, COLORBOND® Permagard® steel, and COLORBOND® steel products with a galvanised steel substrate.
